The above position is currently available within the Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Department based at the Port of Tilbury.
The successful candidate must show genuine enthusiasm and interest for safety management, health, environmental and welfare matters at work. There may be a requirement to travel to any of the Company’s locations and therefore a clean, full UK driving license is necessary for the position.
It is essential that the applicant has a minimum of 5 years Health & Safety experience in a similar role and achieved, as a minimum, a NEBOSH general certificate and has or is working towards a NEBOSH Diploma. We are looking for applicants that have a good knowledge and understanding of port operations and infrastructure, port equipment and its usage, shipping, warehousing, transport and logistics.
You will ensure that the Company’s, safety, health and environmental policies are implemented, legal requirements and codes of practice are applied. You will visit sites and operations regularly to undertake inspections and ensure compliance with risk assessments and safe systems of work. You will also investigate and report on incidents, liaise with enforcing authorities and external bodies. Furthermore you will be required to work with and undertake audits against the Company’s ISO accredited management systems.
Personal integrity with an ability to respect confidentiality are essential for this role as well as excellent communication and IT skills.
